
Thomas Patt
Dr. Tom Patt is a Dutch orthopaedic surgeon at Bergman Clinics, Capelle aan den IJssel, specialising in arthroscopic knee surgery. Since 2010, he has dedicated his career to preventing knee injuries in children and adolescents, earning recognition across Europe for his clinical expertise and collaborative research.
He is the current President of ESMA/ESSKA and co-leads the Guardians of the ACL, a prevention workgroup within the ACL Study Group. Together with Dr. Henrique Jones, he co-developed ESMA/ESSKA’s widely adopted “Prevention for All” programme, aimed at promoting safer sports practices.
Dr. Patt has published extensively in peer-reviewed journals, book chapters, and consensus statements, focusing on ACL injury prevention, treatment strategies, and rehabilitation. His work has significantly advanced paediatric sports medicine and orthopaedic care.
