Dr. Hideyuki Koga is Professor of Joint Surgery and Sports Medicine at the Institute of Science Tokyo. A graduate of Tokyo Medical and Dental University (1999), he earned his PhD in 2008 with pioneering research on cartilage regeneration using mesenchymal stem cells. From 2008–2010, he conducted innovative studies on ACL injury prevention at the Oslo Sports Trauma Research Center.

His expertise includes knee ligament surgery, meniscus preservation, and double-bundle ACL reconstruction. He developed the arthroscopic centralisation technique to address meniscus extrusion, with potential to delay osteoarthritis progression and reduce the need for knee replacement.

Author of over 200 publications, Dr. Koga serves on editorial boards including KSSTA and contributes to ISAKOS, APKASS, and the ACL Study Group. He remains active in IOC initiatives on sports injury prevention.
