Andreas Weiler was born in 1967 neer Cologne, Germany.

He received his degree from the University of Cologne and finished his medical training in general and transplantation surgery, trauma surgery and orthopedics at Charité Hospital at the Humboldt-University in Berlin. Since 1995 he focused his research on biomaterials and the biology and biomechanics of cruciate ligament reconstruction.

He received 17 scientific awards as an author or coauthor. Clinically he specialized in knee ligament reconstruction. His main focus, besides ACL and PCL surgery, is the care of multi ligamentous knee injuries and the management of complication including cruciate revision reconstruction and peripheral knee instabilities.
