Prof. Dr. Frank Martetschläger is leading partner at the German Center for Shoulder Surgery (Deutsches Schulterzentrum) at the ATOS Clinic in Munich.
He specializes in disorders and complex problems of the shoulder and the elbow.

Prior to working at the German Center for Shoulder Surgery he worked at the Department of Orthopaedic Sports Medicine at the Technical University of Munich as a board-certified specialist for orthopaedics and trauma surgery. During his residency he spent one year at the Steadman Clinic in Vail, CO, USA as clinical and research fellow and was selected for the prestigious SECEC Asia fellowship. He has an M.D. degree from University of Würzburg and a full professor for orthopaedics and traumatology degree from Technical University in Munich, Germany. During his last 10 years at the German Shoulder Center he has hosted and educated over 20 international fellows from all over the world.

Due to his ongoing scientific work, he has authored over 85 peer-reviewed, scientific articles, and numerous book chapters on shoulder and elbow surgery. He is editor of three books on shoulder surgery. His academic work has been recognized with awards from several societies.
Currently, Prof. Martetschläger serves as chairman for the European Shoulder Society (ESA-ESSKA) and is a member of the ESSKA Board-Council 2024-2026.
