Complex cartilage repair procedures

Univ.-Prof. Dr. Stefan Nehrer is an orthopaedic surgeon at the University Hospital Krems, Professor of Tissue Engineering, and Dean of the Faculty of Health and Medicine since 2011.

He also leads the Department of Health Sciences, Medicine, and Research at the University for Continuing Education Krems.
Dr. Nehrer earned his MD from the Medical University of Vienna in 1984 and his PhD in 1999. He conducted research on cartilage regeneration at Harvard Medical School from 1995 to 1996.

His clinical focus is on sports orthopedics and cartilage surgery, complemented by extensive research and teaching activities.

A prolific author, Prof. Nehrer has published over 158 peer-reviewed articles and numerous other works. He is a UEMS and EFORT delegate for the Austrian Society of Orthopedics (ÖGO) and has been an Honorary Fellow of the ICRS since 2011.
