Stefano Della Villa
Stefano Della Villa received his MD from the University of Bologna in 1985 and completed his residency in Orthopaedic and Sport Rehabilitation at the Rizzoli Orthopaedic Institutes in 1988.
As part of his training Stefano completed a fellowship in 1987 and 1988 with Professor Michael Dillingham, Director of Sports Medicine Programme, at Stanford University (California, US) and with Rick Eagleston, Physical Therapist of the Stanford Swimming Team.
Stefano founded Isokinetic Medical Group in 1987 in Bologna and since then he has been the President of the company.
In 1992, Stefano organized the first edition of the International Conference on Sports Rehabilitation and Traumatology, the largest football medicine event in the world, that is organized every year. The conference in the last years was held at Camp Nou, in Barcelona, and at Wembley Stadium in London. Next 2022 edition will be held in Lyon.
In 2000, Stefano founded, together with a Sports Medicine Physician, Giulio Sergio Roi, the Educational and Research Department of the company, which focuses on prevention, treatment and rehabilitation of sports injuries. In 2001, the Isokinetic Medical Group opened a new clinic in Milan and in the following years in Rome, Turin, Verona, Rimini and Cortina d’Ampezzo. In 2012, Isokinetic Medical Group opened a clinic in London, at 11 Harley Street.
In the last twenty years he was in the board of scientific societies as SIGASCOT, ICRS, ESSKA.
Since October 2009, Isokinetic Medical Group has been accredited as a FIFA Medical Centre of Excellence, thanks to its long experience in the management of football player injuries.
Stefano has always been very active within the international sports medicine community, has written many book chapters and scientific articles, and been an invited speaker and chairman at hundreds of international conferences.
