Univ.-Prof. Dr. Stefan Nehrer is Professor of Tissue Engineering, Dean of the Faculty of Health and Medicine, and Head of the Department of Health Sciences, Medicine and Research at the University for Continuing Education Krems. He also serves as an orthopaedic surgeon at University Hospital Krems.

He earned his MD from the Medical University of Vienna and completed his PhD in 1999, with research on cartilage regeneration conducted at Harvard Medical School (1995–1996). His clinical expertise focuses on sports orthopaedics and cartilage surgery, complemented by active teaching and translational research.

Prof. Nehrer has published over 150 peer-reviewed articles and numerous other works. He represents Austria as a UEMS and EFORT delegate and has been an Honorary Fellow of the ICRS since 2011.
