Per Hoelmich, MD, PhD
Per Hölmich is a world leading researcher and orthopedic surgeon within the field of groin and hip injuries in sports, and arthroscopic knee- and hip surgery.
He is professor of Orthopedic Surgery at University of Copenhagen and chief surgeon at Department of Orthopedic Surgery, Hvidovre Hospital in Copenhagen, specialised in arthroscopic surgery.
Head of Sports Orthopedic Research Center – Copenhagen (SORC-C) and Arthroscopic Center Hvidovre. Founder of Aspetar Sports Groin Pain Centre.
Co-Chair of the Copenhagen IOC Research Center.
Member of the ESSKA-ESMA board and Chair of the Medical Committee for the Danish Football Federation (DBU).
Past-Chair of The Hip, Groin, and Thigh Committee for ISAKOS and Past-President of the Danish Society for Arthroscopic surgery and Sports Orthopedics (SAKS).
Randomised studies are the core of SORC-C research including both methodology, treatment, and prevention studies. Main research areas are hip and groin problems, adolescent sports injuries, shoulder and knee problems, osteoarthritis and stem cell treatment, and hamstring injuries.
