Roland Becker

Roland Becker was born in 1963 in Magdeburg, Germany.

He qualified as an Orthopaedic Surgeon in 1998 at the University of Magdeburg and specialized in knee surgery and sports traumatology.

Prof. Becker is the Head of the Department of Orthopaedics and Traumatology at the Centre for Joint Replacement Westbrandenburg and serves as the Medical Director of the University Hospital of Brandenburg/Havel. His clinical and scientific interests are primarily focused on the knee, including menisci, cartilage, ligaments, and osteoarthritic knee conditions.

He is an active researcher with over 200 peer-reviewed articles, predominantly focused on the knee, and has authored numerous books on knee arthroscopy and knee arthroplasty.

Prof. Becker served as the Deputy Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Knee Surgery, Sports Traumatology and Arthroscopy (KSSTA) from 2012 to 2019. He has always been actively involved in both national and international societies, having served as the president of the German Speaking Society of Arthroscopy and Joint Surgery (AGA) from 2014 to 2016. Additionally, he was the Chairman of the European Knee Associates (EKA) and joined the presidential line of ESSKA in 2020.

Currently, Prof. Becker serves as the President of the European Society of Knee Surgery, Sports Traumatology and Arthroscopy (ESSKA).
